A request ID is a unique identifier the API returns in a header on every response so that a specific call can be found in the provider's logs when you contact support.
Debugging an integration across two companies needs a shared handle. The request id, generated per call and echoed in a header, is that handle: quote it and the support team can see exactly what was received, when, and what was answered. Log it next to your own correlation ids.
