Ask a messaging gateway what it costs to send to Nigeria and you will usually get a form, then a call, then a grid that depends on who you are and how much you promise to send. The number exists; it is just not for you to see until someone has decided what you are worth.
We do the opposite. Every one of our 228 destinations has one rate, printed on the pricing page and returned by GET /v1/rates. The rate is the same for an account that sends one message and for one that sends ten million. Next to it we print the lowest published price we could find for the same route among gateways that publish theirs, and we check it daily.
What it costs us
Two things. Competitors see our margins, which they would have found out anyway from the first customer who switched. And we cannot charge one customer more because they can afford it, which is precisely the point.
What it buys
A sales process that is a table. Customers who choose us with a calculator rather than a call. And an internal discipline: a rate we have to print is a rate we have to defend, so route quality and cost are reviewed every morning by someone who knows the number will be public by noon.
The comparison column
"Elsewhere from" is not a claim that we are the cheapest on every route on every day. It is the lower public figure of the crypto-paid gateways we track, dated, so the comparison can be checked instead of believed. Other providers publish lower prices on some routes, and the comparison pages name them.
